There are many charter boats on the Balearic Islands. From our point of view, it is the most beautiful way to explore Ibiza and Formentera and Mallorca from the water. But what is rarely talked about: The huge amount of waste and emissions that endanger aquatic life when they get into the waters.
We received an invitation from “One Planet – One life” together with “Foro Marino” to meet with like-minded sea lovers in Ibiza and exchange ideas on preventive measures for boat rental and private use in the Balearic Islands.
The organisations are committed to ensuring that the waters of the Balearic Islands, and Ibiza/Formentera in particular, are free of all waste by 2030 and that marine biodiversity is preserved
Alberto and James took part in yesterday’s discussion and, as representatives of SAY Ibiza / Mallorca, were able to make valuable contributions to our pioneering “Low emission boating” programme with our Suistainable Advanced Yachts (SAY)
Our team has been actively working to reduce water pollution in the waters for the past 4 years by offering boats for sale and charter that are made from carbon (recyclable) and emit 50% less emissions than comparable boats due to their light weight and certified Ultra Low Emission petrol engines
The German yacht manufacturer SAY Carbon Yacht also builds models that are 100% battery powered (SAY 29 E – read more HERE). We have been trying for years to support the infrastructure of Ibiza / Formentera regarding fast-chargers and have already built up a network. We are still waiting for commitments so that we can offer emission-free boating in the future!
With the construction of the SAY 52 with hybrid propulsion technology, we are setting another milestone for enjoying yachting with an “even better conscience”. This new model will be demonstrated for the first time at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2023
